Using DVDInfo, a guy I know in the UK (I live in the US) scanned one of his DVDs and sent me the log. We are trying to figure out if a DVD he has is PAL or NTSC format, and he has no way of telling. He recorded some TV shows off the TV, but doesn't know which format it was recorded in.

DVDInfo says "Format Type UDF", which I have no clue as to what that means - does anyone here know?

His TV will play both PAL & NTSC, and his DVD player will play both also, so we can't tell by actually trying to play it.

I told him about DVDInfo, he downloaded it, and this is what the log says (I deleted some of the - hopefully - unneeded info):

    Disc Regions are

Is there any way to tell without him having to download another program? He does not have Internet at his home, he had to download DVDInfo at some cybercafe as it is.

I mean, if DVDInfo can't tell him/us, that's one thing. What does "Format UDF" mean? Undefined? Unidentified? Something completely unrelated?

    Any more thoughts appreciated.

Ok so now I know what UDF means, thanks. Using DVDInfo *is* there a way to tell what format a disc is?

    Or not?

    i dont think so

i think dvdinfopro gives you info on the actual disc but not on the video data on it.

    i could be wrong

EDIT: Will his DVD player have some On Screen Display that will show him if its PAL or NTSC or the framerate or something
