Seems like NEC will finally support PI/PIF error testing using CD-DVD Speed.

    Good news for some.

    Read all about it here.

wow, by the reactions that were posted people are pretty excited about it..

i've never ran a scan in all the years i've had a dvd burner (since 2002).. the key is finding good media & finding a good dvd burner.. once you've got that combination you dont have to treasure hunt for the golden combination.

Noahtuck, I think that's one of the things that's going on right now, is he's calibrating the program...figuring out what 'good' scans on the NEC look like... (Similar to how PIF on a BenQ, 16 is max, whereas on a liteon it's 4, for 'good, and how this displays in the quality test score.)

What really has me excited about this, is it appears the NEC 3500 and higher, will be one of the drives able to tell you what drive the disc was recorded on, as well as the speed it was burned..

If you use Nero CDSpeed "Create Disc" function to record the DVD, then this information is written onto the DVD in some hidden location, and can be retrieved and displayed by CDSpeed when performing a quality test.
