Just a few questions

After reading the guides I got some good answers but was hoping i could get some opions also. I have been using 2 programs with great success and dont see a reason to upgrade but have noticed some skipping in my backups, the guides suggest its the media, i've been using fujifilm 4x dvd+r, and according to the media list is very compatible to my nec nd110a. the program i use to rip is dvd shrink 3.0 beta 5 and nero 5.5.10.42. other the the pain in butt skipping i really havent had a problem, but should i look for a newer version on dvd shrink i buy a version of nero? also i've got 2 burners a tdkw0404n and the nec i was lookin to upgrade. I was thinkin of the liteon sohw-1633s, anyone got one, whats your thoughts on this drive or sumptin else, thanks fer the help.

Welcome to the forums

Skipping, as you say, is usually a sign of bad media. It doesn't mean that the whole media types is bad (though sdome would say that for certain brands), it just means that that single disk or batch of disks is bad.

You're using Nero 5.5 to burn - the latest is something like 6.6. I seem to remember that a version of Nero (possibly around 5.5) had troubles burning DVDs. Maybe an upgrade should be considered.

The latest version of DVDShrink is 3.2, so 3.0 should be OK - check the change-log in the "Tools" section for changes.

I burn with a Pioneer DVR-108 - I bought coz i read so many positive things about it, and have to say I've had no troubles either. Fast, quiet etc.

sux about the media, i usually buy in bulk to save, and this batch of fifty is almost gone, thank god. I read that media made in japan is usually good, but all i find in bestbuy and other stores is stuff made in taiwan or india, dont know if buyin online is cheaper or if theres a good site. i did upgrade to nero 6.30.3, havent tried it yet tho. the only pioneer i was considerin was the Pioneer DVR-A08XLA. but now actually leanin towards nec nd3500a the liteon only burns double layer at 2.4 while the nec at 4x plus dvd-r write at 16x. i got about 100 to spend and the nec is right there, anyone use that nec yet? thanks for replying daamon and the welcome.
