    Hello,

Not to start a flame war (ok maybe a little ) but who here actually WATCHES AFL?????? I see maybe a half hour per season - when nothing else is on SUNDAY'S during the early spring.

It's just so DIFFERENT. And its hard to get attached because of the ridiculous scoring pace - I mean games regularly go over 40 points PER TEAM!!!

I think it's lasted so long because its cheaper than NFL and its got a better rep than the HORRIBLE XFL..... The XFL wasn't even college football.... I mean why have it almost exactly like the NFL in terms of field size and rules if your players can't play??? (oh I fogot - HE HATE ME made it into the NFL :P :P ). That was another thing - the stupid names for the XFL players - yuck.....

Anyway - back to the AFL - what do you think??? Is it football?????

    Kevin

---no real offense to any diehards out there or people connected to the game - this is just a discussion of comparing it to NFL ---

  5. It's even worse to watch live...
They play music clips at EVERY stop in play, and it's worse because there is not enough time to play the whole song...

In general a good time, but I doubt I'd go again..

it's not bad. arizona rattlers have taken home a few championships

it's made to be more fast paced and higher scoring so it makes it more exciting.

xfl wasnt that bad. a few players actually went to the nfl from it

I look at it as the "poor man's" professional league. Tickets to AFL games are cheaper than tickets to NFL games. And, I must admit it's a marketing success. Really, a lot of arenas simply did no business between conventions. This keeps them solvent. And, there are some advantages to warm and dry arenas. It would be interesting to see if the fast-food vendors make more money from AFL games (per capita) than vendors make from NFL games. I suspect they do.

    Dito.

I then realised Americans are too pansy to play a form of football that doesn't involve great amounts of padding. :P

Not only that, but most Americans are too pansy to be involved in a sport known for it's post-game violent and drunken brawls. What is it with us Americans, anyway? We must be retarded or something.

the AFL isnt that bad.. its not a substitution for real football, and its not trying to be.. its kind of like minor league baseball.. along with NFLE, CFL, etc..

i've watched it a few times, its pretty decent.. kind of like football combined with pinball.

  15. I'm guessing Ray Lewis is some 400 pound footballer who spends a total time of 5 minutes on the field during a game of NFL?

    nope. 6'1 245lb linbacker...

if you ever saw guys like ray lewis, LT, junor seau, brian urlacher, derrick brooks, and bill romo play you would know the meaning of hurt. those pads have saved many peoples life due to the fact of linebacker's like these who play(ed) the game
