Hello,
I recently upgraded to Vegas 5 on a new computer and have encountered a problem importing AVI files (encoded with divx 5.x codec). On the the import screen, it says for the the video that "stream attributes could not...", but I am able to import and view quicktime and DV avi files. I have installed both the Divx and Xvid codecs and am able to play the avi files in all media players.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since many of my clips are encoded in Divx avi.
Cheers,
Tom

I did some investigation into why Vegas and main concept encoder will not take some DiVX and XViD files if encoded in certain versions of those codecs ... or you just get a green screen ...
I found that if you change the 4CC codes in the AVI file header to :
Description code - DiVX3
FourCC code used - DiVX
for both XViD and DiVX ..
I had no problem importing and viewing the files in Vegas ...
This should be confirmed by someone else though for main concept encoder as i dont have it installed on this system....
Vegas does not always recognize the field order of a mpeg4 file (DiVX, WMV, XViD) -- vegas is not the only program that has this problem -
