  1. Dear All,

I have purchased a Panasonic DMR-E55 on the basis of favourable recommendations. It burns to the (more expensive) Panasonic DVD-RAM disks flawslessly (15 of 15 attempts).

However, the unit is quite erratic in burning to DVD-R disks. I have tried using various brands (Philips: aprox. 5 of 10 successful, Fuji (0 of 1 worked), Verbatim (1 of 1 worked).

Is there a better brand one should try? Or should I bring to recorder to Panasonic for servicing?

    Kind regards,

    Steven

  2. I just got a Panny E55 this weekend and I've had no problems with Fuiji 8x disks or Memorex RAM disks. Did you get an error message? Did it occur when recording or finalizing?

If you're getting more than 10% failure rate using different disks I would return it to the store and get a replacement ASAP.

  3. The error message occurs about 1 minute after the recording starts. I´ve ordered some Japan-made Maxell 4X (recommended by Panasonic technical service) to try them.

  4. My E80H choked on every one of the Taiwan Fujis. I've burned Riteks, Maxells, BeAlls, CompUSA, Accus without any problems. It sounds like a media problem. The Panny units are definitely picky eaters.

  5. I used about 100 Accu disks & they work great. You only need 1x cause thats what it records in. Accus are real cheap now at meritline.com
