DVD Playback Issues

At home I have a portable panasonic player and a stand alone SONY DVD player. On my pc I have a LitOn 16x burner that I recently purchase (this is basicvally the beginning of my venture into the DVD authoring world). Anyways my cousin overseas sent me a dvd of some wedding footage and It works on my pc but not on any of my stand alone units. I thought maybe it was a regional coding issue so I tried the DVDShrink and it all no regional code enabled. I tried to extract the dvd content and reburn it but i am having the same issues. A friend had mentioned that it is possible that the media my cousin sent is not compatible so I bought the same media and it works just fine. I was thinking of playing the DVD from one software and recording it fresh into another but not sure what use or if there is another solution to fix the playback issues......

Maybe PAL video? You can try extracting it with DvdDecrypter. Check the video with AVIcodec or Gspot to see what the format is.

Ok I figured out a way to make the DVD work but the process is long and tedious. First I extracted all the files from the DVD (30 mins). Then I converted the VOB files to mpeg2 using WinAv (30 mins)i. Then I pull in the mgep2 in to DVD Architect and optimize the files to fit onto DVD (this compresses the files with very little loss in quality), then I export to DVD and everything is good (6 hours). Is there anything here that I should do differently to shorten the process. It takes me a total of 7 hours to complete the entire process.
