First, I want to apologize if this is the wrong forum..
I'm soon going to buy a video camera but I have a question.
In some cameras there is something called progressive shutter..
What does that mean, and does it make a big difference compared to a cam without it?

then I would also like to ask..
    Is Sony DCR-HC 40 a good camera?
Let's say I'm going to be doing some a bit above amateur editing.

I love Sony cams so I'm not a good person to ask. Depending on your budget either Sony 1 CCD or Pana 3 CCD lower end (good price). Check DVSpot.com and camcorderinfo.com. All the answers are there (tests, impressions). PVDV400 (3CCD Pana) would be probably the best one under 1000) if I'm not mistaken. Sorry, just to lazy to check models and prices.
But you cant go wrong with the one you picked by Sony.

    Edit.
As posted below it is PVGS400. Great and small cam unlike VX and GL2. The GS series is very attractive in price and features.
If not 3CCD Pana the definitely a Sony.

  5. camcorderinfo.com gives the camera pretty good reviews for a consumer camera. If you have the budget for it, I would go with one of Panasonic's new 3-ccd camcorders like the gs120 or gs200. Of course, if you're looking to do something more professional, check the Canon GL2, the Panasonic GS400, or the Sony VX2100.
