  1. Hi,
I wonder if anyone would be so kind as to guide me through a few things. I bought Recordnow 7.2, and would like to burn the video_ts folder authored with DVDMaestro to a Dual layer disk using my NEC ND-3500A DL burner.

Problem is, i cant seem to find anywhere in Recordnow to do this, only can find a way of burning images.

I am able to create a .img from Maestro but will recordnow recognise this?

I got recordnow 7.2 as i read it burns that most compatible disk.

Only way i have managed to burn a disk at the moment is using copytodvd, which did create a sucssessful Dual Layer burn which played fine in my dvd player.

Also, i read about changing the booktype to DVD-ROM? is this only possible with the sony 700 burner, or can i do something similar with my NEC?

Anyway, any help would be great,

    Thanks in advance,
    Wayne.

  2. ImgTools Classic (free) can create ISOs for you from DVD Video files. Also, I believe DVDinfoPRO (freeware version available) can do it, though I haven't tried it. And DVDDecrypter can burn ISOs as well. You should have no trouble with RecordNow burning the ISO images made with ImgTools.

If you can make ISOs with DVDMaestro, that's probably simplest.

    Good luck.

BTW, I'm gunna try a DL burn myself on my new BenQ 1620. Got some Verbatims and I have RecordNow 7.2 also. Might use DVDDecrypter to burn, though. Fingers crossed.

  3. fritzi93,

Let me know how it goes with Verbatim DL Media using your Benq 1620. I have the same burner, and I use DVD Decryper and DVD Shrink.

I did a couple, both scanned at 94% in CDSpeed. Pretty respectable. Just did ISO>Read / ISO Write to keep it as simple as possible. (The movies were Master and Commander and ROTK, neither of which will stand any compression, IMO, even with DVDRebuilder).

Actually, I hate menus and extras, next time I'll try reauthoring in DVDShrink, and see how well DVDDecrypter does on setting the layer break.

As Lord Smurf says, it's okay to "dabble", but it's too expensive and reliability is not well-enough established yet. Give it a go, what the hell. :P

  5. I realize this is an old topic but with any RecordNow version you select Data,it will auto. recognize the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders.

  6. dvddecrypter-free,iso read-iso write.
keeps the layer change intact, and works on more players than the other software out there, like nero, and its "lets put the layer change where it wants to mentality".

I have burned several DL disks with my Benq 1620, all of them successful.

I did the first one with DVD Decrypter (ISO image) and the rest (three or four) with RecordNow 7.21. Everything went fine, and I have to say I spent a hell of a lot more time researching the topic on this board (and worrying about what might go wrong ) than actually burning the disk.

CGI: You should have no problem bitsetting with the NEC, as I believe the drive does this by default for DL discs. Using Recordnow 7.2x, all you have to is create a Data Disc project, include your AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, and burn (set pre-selected options to Finalize the disc and, if you like, verify the burn).

This has worked for me 100% of the time so far. (BTW, I use Ritek DL media, and my BenQ drive is at firmware rev B7T9, for those who are interested).

  9. HEY ALL
A quick question, What does this mean:

1.) There is hacked firmware that let's you set booktyping for dvd+r, Dvd+rw, and dvd9+r and disables riplock,

2.) What's The difference between firmware and Flasher

3.) to set booktyping use WinBType

    Thanks and Regards
