  1. I just bought a Phillips DVP642 and i have a RJ Tech 1500II coming later in the week. After I hooked up the phillips tonight I tried to play some XVid encodes. The picture pixelated badly and had god awful color breakup. I read in the player list here that the problem is in quantization. That if I push the System menu twice it would fix it, and it does, but how can I set Xvid (and I use AK) to permently fix thisproblem. Also will the RJ Tech be plagued with the same Issues?

    Thanks Guys

You can use MPEG4 Modifier to determine whether your problem is a Custom MPEG problem. Process your file through MPEG4 Modifier and then click the Video Info button. It will tell you a lot about your file.

Coloration problems are normally associated with Custom MPEG quantization.

I've found that if these files play in Windows Media Player, then you will be able to use VirtualDub to re-encode them using H.263 or MPEG quantization and they will then play fine. VirtualDub will also fix files that have Qpel or GMC set on that your player will also probably reject.

I don't have any solution for files that crash VirtualDub (see my other post in this forum).
