  1. I just got done converting a video_ts folder into an svcd, and it took about 12 hours...is this normal, and if not any suggestions as to what I might do?

Edit: ok, after further review, I have found that the video moves way too fast, similar to a 1x fast forward on a dvd player. the audio moves normally, so eventually it lags way behind the video. it is this way in the .mpeg files and also on the cd-r after burning...any ideas as to what this might be?

  2. Such wait should be normal when using mpeg2enc engine. Concerning the video speed, did you use the same framerate as the source to encode (ie NTSC FILM w/3:2 pulldown, or PAL?).

  3. Well, the movie I was encoding was The Wedding of my Cousin, I am not totally sure if I encoded at the same framerate as the source...I guess i didn't look. And to be quite honest I don't know much about it. It is possible to burn an svcd onto a couple of cd-r's and play it in a DVD player, correct? What should I look for in the source file to see what framrate it needs to be encoded on?

  4. You should look at the framerate value, which is displayed in the left LCD screen when you open the file. If it says "NTSC" then you should probably use NTSC FILM and 3:2 pulldown option. If it says "PAL" then you should use "PAL". Also for best results with NTSC SVCD you should use a single VOB file as source and use the "Decode with Quicktime" option which will help to avoid sync problems.
