I am using Mainconcept for encoding and after I figured it out I dont have any problems. But I have a series of short clips in AVI that I want to burn on one DVD and after the conversion the audio signal is way too loud and distorted. Is the first time I get that problem. I tried extracting the wav with VirtualDub and then encode the avi and the wav as two different files but still didnt work. Any ideas?

You could extract the audio, then use a program such as GoldWave to reduce the audio level.

Sounds like your encoding/authoring tools are increasing the sound level. Have you double checked your software settings?
