  1. I am looking for a stand alone dvd player that will play the usaual mix of DVD +/- R and RW CDR/RWs as well as Dual layer disks. I did a search in the DVD player section, It listed 6 players, but none of them seam to be for sale in the USA. Does anyone know what MFG and model DVD player I can purchase in the USA that will play these formats?

    Thanks

  5. I tried posting early but for some reason it just posted a blank reply. Two of three of my dvd players plays dvd+r dl media with no problems. They are a Toshiba SD4900 and a Samsung P241. The Toshiba also plays dvd +/- rw media, not sure about the samsung--I haven't tested it yet.

  8. Most movies are on Dual Layer DVDs. However, I think his question is if stand alone DVD players will play the new format: Recordable Dual Layer DVDs (DL +/-R). I know must newer DVD players support all DVD formats but they do not mention Dual Layer. This technology is still new. I have a Dual Layer burner so I could create one and test on my older DVD players. Expect an update soon.

  9. Like I said in my prior post, I know for a fact that my Dual Layer copy of Eyes Wide Shut European Version (burnt on Verbatim DL media) plays perfectly on my Toshiba and my Samsung. It does not play on my older (2000) Zenith player. It will play up till the layer break and then freeze.
