I've been reading the forums while waiting for my registration to be approved, and now I'm even more confused.

I recently purchased the PVR-250, and I'm waiting to do an install, but I've read that right of the bat, the included CD is pretty much worthless. Is this totally true?

I've been considering using the WinDVR ( latest version ) software, and I've been thinking about the SAGE as mentioned here. My concern is that I read the software may cause issues with WinDVD, which is already installed on my pc.

Is there a current set of drivers/software that can be used with the pvr-250 on a windows2000 sp4 setup?

What other software might I need just to get started in recording live TV and VHS, and then creating VCD's from said files?

Thank you for your patience and help.

    Mike

  3. WinDVR integrates nicely with WinDVD (both made by Intervideo). No worries there, and it's a great piece of capture software. IMHO.

  4. I don't think WinDVR supports the Hauppauge PVR-250. Hauppauge's WinTV2000 software isn't great but it's OK. Worth taking a look at. I use it all the time. BeyondTV works with the PVR-250. You should also look at the tips/tricks section at:

    Lots of useful information there.

I appreciate everyone's help. This is my first card, and I was a little heistant about getting it running.

I'll check into the software you mentioned.

BTW, can WinDVR be installed on top of the WinTV2000, or will I need to uninstall that first?

    Thank you again.

  6. I'm sure you can install WinDVR along with WinTV2000 but:

    http://www.intervideo.com/html/Enu/Products/WinDVR/WinDVR_Supported_TV_Tuner_Cards.html

There are very few 3rd party apps that can deal with hardware MPEG cards like the PVR-250. The ones that I know of are SageTV, BeyondTV, and WinTVCap (a command line utility).

Beyond TV. Running it for over 2 years on 2 machines since it came out as Personal Video recorder. Best combo! I run a Win PVR 500MCE, dual TV Tuners also and have the ability to watch and record with as little as 7% CPU usage. The hardware on the card does the work. Just go to their web site and install the recommended drivers for your 250. Hauppauge has a driver uninstall utility if you need it.
