  1. I am currently trying to tweak my settings in powerdvd 5.0. Resolution of montor is 1680x1050 and screensize is 20.0" 16:10 aspect ratio. Just trying to make powerdvd fill up on the screen on anamorphic dvds that would normally fill the whole screen on a widescreen HDTV. Even if I watch in the windowed setting, there are still black bars at top and bottom, not as thick if it were 2:35. Should I look for another media player to resolve this issue and which one?

Your screen isn't 16:9, so you will get black bars on playback of true 1.778:1 material. The only way to get rid of them is to zoom in and lose the ends. While I am at a loss as to why you would want to do this, I'm not sure PowerDVD has small enough increments on it's zoom function. In fact, I'd be surprised if any of them did.
