  1. Sorry for the double posts but i have another problem. For some reason, when i use ac3 or mpeg audio to author dvd's the dvd comes out crappy. Nero showtime can play the audio while media player and powerdvd cannot. My set top player (Memorex MVD2042) cannot play the audio either. It only takes wav audio files which takes up a lot of space forcing me into reducing my video quality. I am using dvdlab pro. any suggestions?

    Hello,

Try using another author program. Most have a trial download to test it. If you can't play a dvd authored with AC3 SOMETHING is seriuosly messed up. AC3 IS the dvd audio standard - next to pcm of course

Test it with tmpgenc dvd author or ulead and see if you get the same results..... Could be how your mixing it....

  4. Try to encode your audio with 2 channesl AC3 instead of 5.1 channels AC3 and then see whether it playes properly or not. You have to convert your 5.1 ac3 to 2 channel ac3 with besweet for ffmpeg.

Well, it's not a problem of PowerDVD / WinDVD or codec. It just that BeSweet is not producing correct AC3 file. Try to use ffmpegGUI that produces more compatible AC3 file than BeSweet.

Some people says, file produce by ffmpegGUI is problematic in Pioneer
DVD players (I have not tasted it).

Still if you want the most compatible AC3 then use software that is Dobly certified. See this forum
No AC3 Sound in PowerDVD / WinDVD

Soft Encode would be the best beat evenehough it's no longer updated. Sony's Vegas 5 would be the best but just for audio conversion you don't want to get other things and it's not that cheep.
