Hi,
I am hoping someone out there has had this problem. I am playing DVD-r disks in my Playstation 2 and my arianet dvd player and they will intermittently freeze for a split second and then resume this will happen a good many times throughout a film. Yet if you play the same bit again it will probably play fine, it does it at different places, or it may not do it at all. All disks play fine in my computer.
The disks are usually made with 321 Studio, or sometimes DVD decrypter. I have used different makes of disk as well. I am pulling my hair out with this as it is ruining my enjoyment of the films. It never used to do this, but now it is happening on nearly every disk (Although not every one) even ones that played perfectly before.
I have cleaned the laser on both players as I have been decorating and thought the dust may have got into the units but still having the same problems. The arianet also will not even play most disks I put in, it just ejects them. Yet, as I say,the disks all play fine on my computer dvd drive. I can give more details if anyone can help.
Thanks and please help!!!

sounds like a case of crappy media.. your cries echo through the ages of videohelp..
the ps2 has never been a good dvd player, i've never heard of that brand of dvd player you mentioned.. its possible that you just have 2 crappy dvd players.. but more likely you're using low quality media.. sometimes burning slowly to shitty media helps, you might try that.. or you could get some decent media.. lordsmurf being the resident know-it-all when it comes to dvd burning (and many other things) has a website dedicated to grading recordable dvd media.. i suggest you check it out..

Sounds like the same problem i had with my home player and ps2,dvds burned and scanned fine but froze every half hour of play for a few seconds.
Got a new dvd home player and it plays the same dvds fine.I think, therefore i am a hamster. -
Better media - TY maybe - Yes more expencive but superior quality. Don't play on PS-2 - Get a nice modern DVD player, they are dirt cheap now a days.
Use DVD SHrink to shrink to ISO and DVD Decrypter to burn the iso. Both a re free.
...and lastly,,, you will never get 100% success. There will always be this one disk that will have the stutters or freezes. Keep the ISO image until the diak is verified that it will play perfectly. If it does not, re-burn. DO NOT run anything on the PC while you are burning. No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
Thanks very much for all your suggestions. Regarding the media, I am using what are suppossed to be "A" grade disks in the uk (Traxdata). They are 8x disks but my burner will only burn at 4x. "A" grade disks are the best??? Perhaps its the burning speed causing a problem???

What is the media ID Nutbar? Put it into DVDInfo, or CDSpeed etc, or even dvd decrypter, and post the media ID on these discs?
advertising themselves as "grade A" media means very little.

I think the media ID is RITEKG05 but I'll check it when I get home later and post it. Thanks!
