I have been reading various reviews on all kinds of recorders and people always mention something about certain channels having a copy once protection or whatever, that prevents you from recording on their channel. HBO does this. Is this true?
My main reason for a dvd recorder is to record the sporting events on HBO.

HBO is scrambled so you need a decoder box but they are not using Macrovision or some other anti-recording technique.
That dosen't mean they might do it in the future.
