  1. I use a Ricoh MP5240A DVD+RW/+R burner and Ricoh DVD-R media. I generally write data to DVDs in several sessions. Several times I have burned an additional session (3 of 3) and on checking after the burn, the data was there. I also cataloged the DVD successfully with my media librarian and all the files, including those from the most recent burn, were there.

A week or so later, the files burned in the last session have vanished! This has happened with several DVDs.

I bought some Taiyo Yuden DVDs as they come highly recommended, but my Ricoh burner stalls when these are inserted.

Got me beat but I have to solve this issue - it's unsettling.

Appreciation and thanks for your help.

DVD was not made for multisession.
    Try another drive.

  4. Thanks to both of you.

I'm a little confused about: if DVD media is not made for multisession, how will trying a different drive make a difference to the problem of data loss?

I'm assuming from what you say that if I burn a DVD's worth of files to a DVD in one session, that will be ok?
