I cannot get my 108 to burn past 8X. I have used TDK 8X disks, Memorex 8X and Maxell. I thought they would burn @ 12X. Anyone have this issue?

I had a problem with my Pioneer 108: read my post - https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=261651 I tried everything they suggested and I am sure what fixed it, was defragmenting the HD, since I have 4 HDs, I have only tried burning from one of them, I will try later and burn from the others.
How long does it take for you to burn a Movie? it takes me 7 mins. at 12X and 14 mins. at 4X, do the math, at 12X it should burn in only 5 mins.
thanks everyone for the help.
P.S. 8X media do burn at 12X with my Pioneer 108. -
