  1. I cannot get my 108 to burn past 8X. I have used TDK 8X disks, Memorex 8X and Maxell. I thought they would burn @ 12X. Anyone have this issue?

maybe a hacked firmware would help you out.

  4. I had a problem with my Pioneer 108: read my post - https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=261651 I tried everything they suggested and I am sure what fixed it, was defragmenting the HD, since I have 4 HDs, I have only tried burning from one of them, I will try later and burn from the others.

How long does it take for you to burn a Movie? it takes me 7 mins. at 12X and 14 mins. at 4X, do the math, at 12X it should burn in only 5 mins.

    thanks everyone for the help.

P.S. 8X media do burn at 12X with my Pioneer 108.

As with all other DVD burners, the above is dependant on the drives firmware, and the media ID code of the disc.

For a basic example, a disc with the code TYG02 (I think I got that right) is 8x Taiyo Yuden media. In the drives firmware, TYG02 has a set of values that represent at which speeds it can be recorded.

I hope that makes some sense.
Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think.
