  1. I've been doing some upgrades on a friends crappy prefab PC. Its running a Gigabyte VIA chipset Mobo, a Liteon CD drive, and I recently put a Gigabyte Radeon 9250 in it in place of the crappy onboard graphics. Its still running onboard audio. It has 256 MB ram. He wants to add another 256MB or RAM, a case fan and a DVD-ROM drive. But the PSU is a 300W offbrand unit. I'm hesitant to try putting all that in to see if it'll run or not. Any opinions welcome.

300w, even if it is offbrand should be enough.

  4. Thanks for the input. If I do put a new PSU in it I'll get an Antec but I'd upgrade it to 400W to make sure he's covered for a while. I was just a little hesitant to put too much in there with what I consider to be the minimum wattage for a modern PC build.
