Hi, i think i over extended the MFT file i mean it says healthy now but im just qorried that actually cancelling whilst it padding it has messed up a load of files..

the drive was a big partitioned one (160 GB originally) i partioned it down to parts of approv 40 GB each. I defragged a partitioned half full it said 28% in free space. I didnt know what to put for the paging file estimate size but i stupidly took a guess and out in a really high number..I shd have read the frag shield thing. I put the size of MFT Paging file to be 3468275 size big. It was making this big file or something rotten. something and it was making it 698MB big then another file beoing made 101mb big, it then started padding MFT and after 2 lines of the little stars (*) i cancelled restarted analysed and it said the MFT is healthy.

None of my files would have corrupted would they??

    Master File Table. http://www.forensics-intl.com/def11.html

It probably wouldn't corrupt the actual files, but it might lose some of their index attributes. If it says it's OK, then hopefully it is. I would run error checking on the drive and keep your fingers crossed.

I'm not a fan of multiple partitions as I feel they make the OS work that much harder to keep track of things. Just my opinion, though.

I phoned execsoft to ask them and they said it should be ok u dont actually need a paging file they said on a slave drive i dunno if their right or not..

You say it might affect the index to files..if it does that can it
    A: be fixed?
B: Affect the playback of a file?

Would spinrite be a good tool to run for error checking??
