panasonic DVD recorders record video files in a format
that has the file extension vro
If you want to make use of it to create a DVD using your pc
you need to trasfer the vro file to the HD
in some instances, it doesn't get transferred . It produces
some error code.
I believe Panasonic sends out a special software with some
of the digital video recorders that will read the vro files onto the HD.
Such software is not sent with the model dmr-e75
Does anyone have any idea where from such software can be downloaded ?
The Panasonic site doesn't give you any clue
I have written to them also.
any help would be appreciated

I use Ulead's DVD Workshop to transfer and author my dvds I captured from the Panasonic E50. I 've never had a problem with any files that I've transfered. 8)

The only warning is sometimes Panasonic AC3 files can be corrupt. It only becomes apparent when demuxed. Not a super-common problem, but common enough to be mentioned.

Thanks for the 3 of you who took the time to answer my question
But my question was specific
What is the name of the software that panny distributes with some DMRs and palmcorders ( that use the DVD disk) that reads in the vro file.
Finally Panasonic responded to my query
The software is DVD Movie Album.
It is supposed to read the vro files into mpeg2 files that can then
be used in many authoring and burning programs.
I wonder whether anyone has used that program. -

From what I've been told about this software (DVD Movie Album) is that it doesn't retain the AC3 audio format. The audio is transfered as mpeg audio which is not dvd standard. I am not sure if any newer versions have changed much in regards to the audio format.

You could just use TMPGEnc DVD Author
It will read vro files and extract them into mpgs
Also what errors are you getting?
Is it something like cyclic redundancy error?
If so that means it was a bad burn, you have an unreadable block on the dvd ram, a read error
Just reburn the title -
I have that software, stay away from it. When exporting an mpeg file it adds a faint whistle to the audio. There's really no use for it except that I can edit my RAM discs with it, I don't know of any other software that I can do that with. I use TDA for everything else. Oh, it comes with their DVD burners.

I have no idea what you're talking about. "Faint whistle" ? I'm listening to a disk that I made using DVD Movie Album copy tool to split the VRO into separate files for reauthoring. The AC-3 is transferred perfectly. I'm listening to the audio through my Dolby surround system with the volume at 20 of 26 (ie. VERY LOUD) and I hear no "whistle" in any channel. I've been using this method with the Panny recorder for the past 15 months without problems. Where do you get this problem? Post production when authoring? Modifying the audio? I'm not doing anything to the audio, not even normalizing it. I also don't have sync problems if I don't edit on the Panny HDD or the DVD-RAM. This has worked great for me and my friends who get my discs for at least 1 year...

Vic Ferrari and I had conversation about it a couple of years back, I'm glad it's working out for you. There used to be a thread about it but it's long sinced dropped off. Again, so glad all is well.
