  1. hi everyone.

just a question for a friend.

downloaded a divX movie and want to use TMPGEnc 3.0 xpress to encode to dvd mpeg-2 ready to author / burn to dvd.

when he tries to import the divX movie from his download folder to tmpge, gets a message saying "could not open the video part of the file, only the audio part can be opened" or something to that effect.

i asked him if he has divX codec installed, and if not, to download and install the divX 5.2.1 codec and try again. also told him to try import it to MAINCONCEPT (trial veersion) as well and see what happens.

he didnt tell me if he is able to play the divX video on his pc, so thats why i asked him if he had the divX codec installed.

i take it if he is able to play the divX video on his pc, then he must have the codec already installed, so having said that, has anyone got any thoughts as to why TMPGEnc 3.0 will only open the audio portion of the divX movie and not import the complete divX movie.

    any help or suggestions appreciated.

    regards to you all.........GAP

  3. hi baldrick.

i sent him a link to download the divX codec 5.2.1 and install it anyway, then try again with tmpgenc.
if he already is able to play those downloaded divX movies on his pc, then he must already have the divX codec installed does he not, or is it only if you need to convert a divX file to say mpeg that u need the divX codec.

just trying all possibilities and thanks again.....GAP
