freezing dvd's

i've got a sony dvd -/+ writer, films that i burn with +rw work no problem, but any films that i burn with -R freeze every 30secs or so near the end of the film, is the -R format no good for burning films or am i doing something wrong? i'm using the lastest nero to burn the films to disc

Freezing at the end (=outer edge) is the hallmark of crap media. Use better media, or don't fill your DVD-R to the brim.

How fast are you burning the -r disk? If you are burning at 8x try it at 4x. This helped for me
