    Hello,

Ok so I've got a 2 hour divx with 5.1 ac3. I've demuxed a small 2 minute test clip to convert to dvd. I can convert the video to mpeg2 with tmpgenc no problem. But I go to Tmpgenc Dvd Author and load the ac3 file that was split from the avi and it says its not compatible.

Now I don't have the 5.1 plug in but I have been able to author 5.1 before. Is there another program besides virtualdub that can demux the 5.1 from the main avi file???? Is there an ac3 header fix I could use???

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

VirtualDub will save the AC3 with a wav header. Alternatives would be VirtualDubMod or AVIMuxGUI.

    Hello,

I can't get beslice, avimux, or ac3fix to work

Ac3fix simply doesn't do anything. I load the file in and select the output file. Then I click process and nothing.

Avimux doesn't seem to let me output to ac3. Unless I'm missing something.

And I can't get Beslice to load properly Hmm..

?? ac3fix always works for me... And I think you have to use it for AC3 demyxed with VirtualDub. VDub Mod works a little different, and might fix your prob...

    Hello,

Ok I tried splitting a ac3 clip with vdubmod but the same result happened with tda.

Now I've tried ac3fix many times but no output happens. Here is the screen I get when I add the test file:

What am I doing wrong??? It clicks ok but no process occurs...

These are the files I have in my ac3fix folder:

    ac3fix.exe
    ac3gui.exe
    changelog.txt

What am I missing with ac3fix??? It seems like the gui isn't sending the file to the command line ac3fix file... Any help would be appreciated...

I'll be interested in a solution to this too, as I've had similar issues. Whether I split the ac3 file from the avi in Virtualdubmod or in avidemux, I get the same error message when I try to bring it into TMPGEnc DVD Author.

    ac3fix doesn't do anything.

ac3 to ac3 encoding with Besweet makes an ac3 file that TDA can import, but plays back as nothing but jibberish.

I had this problem with the Batman Begins trailer aired during the Super Bowl, but oddly enough, not with the War of the Worlds trailer that aired the same night.

    Hey Alex,

Thanks for the suggestion... just tried Besliced from the link you posted above. TDA accepted the fixed file fine and dandy. And it sounded great.

Hey Yoda, I think this thing's got YOUR name on it too.

Thanks but for some reason besliced won't load. I just get the little icon to pop up but the program won't load. Thanks for the help guys. I'll have to try these out tomorrow

    Hey Yoda,

I was confused by that too, at first.

That little icon (the guy with the beard) is all you need. From Windows Explorer, drag the offending ac3 file on top of that icon and a little context menu will appear. Click "fix" and a text file will appear detailing what errors it fixed.

Worked great on my above-mentioned Batman Begins trailer.

  13. Yoda,

encode you 5.1 channel ac3 to 2 channel ac3 with ffmpeg and then try.

  14. The AC3 plugin for TMPGEnc products supports only 2 channel audio and NOT 5.1 channel audio

TDA with the plug-in can't encode 5.1 channel audio, but if you have a 5.1 channel .ac3 file sitting there, TDA can import the file as is... though as I've learned recently, some of those .ac3 files have to be fixed with BeSliced first.

    Hello,

    THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Dragging the ac3 file on to the besplice face did the trick!

Once it finished I loaded the test clips into tda - which now liked the fixed audio! And walla - the divx with 5.1 authored and burned it to a rw. The clip played and my 5.1 audio light went on and played flawlessly!

Now all I have to do is fiddle around with the bitrates to get it to fit right

    Thanks everyone

You have to move the ac3fix.exe to your windows directory before the gui will find it.
