Anyone heard of Pioneer dvr-810-s?

Have you heard of the pioneer-810-s? Whats the difference between that and the 310 and 410? I saw the 810 selling for a good price and I'm wodering if this is good for tranfer of hi8 tapes to dvd and copy of my movies. I checked to see if any onformation is availabe but I couldn't find anything on it.

I think it is dvr-810h-s. If it is that one it has tivo basic with it. I think that would be a drawback for editing on the hdd but will be a plus for other features. There is also talk in the tivo community of upgrading hdd and other hacks for it.

That one is Pioneers Discontinued Model. it is being replaced by the New 520 version.

Has a small problem with Pixs in the picture when recording in the longest mode.

Reported crush black problems but can be tweaked to lower the effect.

I have the Magic Image for the 810 to expand the disk.

If you are interested, Select Sound Advice stores are selling them for $288.00 and they are going fast. The R57 is the elite version. The only difference in the two is the case and price. They run the same.

The Best bang for the buck at this time is a Pioneer 520. Rated best of the bunch by Consumer Reports.

This is the Pioneer model with built-in TiVo. I bought one for my daughter and they upgraded the TiVo basic (the free TiVo) to the subscription service. I'm disappointed that it does not allow any editing of the recorded programs before burning to DVD. However, if you want TiVo this is a good way to copy your recordings to DVD with no loss in quality. If you clink the manuals link at the top of this forum you can connect to Pioneer's site and download the 810 manual.

It probably is the best-looking TiVo ever.
