  1. I use WinAvi to convert from avi to dvd format for large files that will take an entire dvd.

This is fine, Im left with the video and audio folder, drag them to nero dvd and burn a dvd.......done

My problem now is that I have several 1/2 hr tv shows I want to take from avi to tmpgenc dvd author so I can put multiple shows onto one disc.

I just bought both winavi and tmpgen dvd author so I would really like to stick to just using those 2 programs.

I have tried using winavi to convert the avi to mpeg2 but when I attempt to use it in tmpgenc dvd author I gives warnings that the audio and video bitrate is to high and wont work.

All I want to do is just get multiple shows on one dvdr disc using these 2 programs, is it possiable.

I have searched around the forums but havent found anything that really explained it.

If anyone has a link or information it is greatly appreciated.

  3. Don't ignore the warings, the result mpeg2's made from Winavi do have problems with many DVD players. Wasted quite a few blanks before I realized it.

Most of the time I convert avi's, I'd use VirtualDubMod frame serves to TmpgEncPlus. It is the best method, IMO.

But sometimes I also use Honestech Mpeg converter, it is by far the best one-click program I've used so far. It has lot more controls than any other one-clickers like Winavi. the result qualities are pretty good. I use this program when I don't need subtitles.

But before you spend any more money, try using Winavi to convert the files to VCD specs (Mpeg1, the bitrate will be locked at 1150kb). If your TV source is decent, you'll be amazed that there isn't a big difference than encoding to Mpeg2's. You'll be able to put lot more 1/2 hour shows on one disc.

  5. I can't help you with the non standard mpeg2's, but you can easily combine several mpeg2's in tmpgenc dvd author.

  6. use winavi convert to dvd not mpeg2
do a batch convert with all the 1/2 hr show and select 1 dvd

import the convert vob into dvd-author to create the menu.
