is the screen guna stay like it now at 85 htz and even if it stays at 85 htz will it get to like it did again??
thanks very much for your help by the way -
It should, unless you change it, change video cards, or reinstall windows.

thru startup of xp tho its still a bit shimmering in windows its fine, how come this is??
-
During startup, the drivers that load to run the video card, are not the first. They load a bit later, so you get shimmering until they're loaded, and the screen is showing the set refresh rate.

its a 19" CRT monitor.
i think the Graphics card is foxconn.
The screen just always seems shimmery now..
i got it for 40 quid from ebuyer..
ne1 know what the prob is??
isit cos its 19"?? -
No, it isn't the size. I have a 19" Dell Trinitron that has faithfully served for years.
Try plugging the monitor into a different machine or another monitor into your graphics card. Ensure the resolution, colour depth and refresh rates are the same (makes it a fair test). This will highlight whether it is the monitor or the graphics card to blame.
I hope for the sake of your wallet that it is the graphics card - postage back to eBuyer for a monitor will be very expensive.
£40 is very cheap for a 19" monitor - the cheapest eBuyer have one is for £94 new. Did you get it from their "Blowout Deals" section? I got a monitor there - deal of the century. However, I think you really have to exercise caution when dealing with eBuyer - their staff are all half-asleep and can't deal with even a simple instruction letalone ensure a monitor returned to them is fit for re-sale.
Anyway, test it out and let us know. -
I tested it and the monitor i had b4 it, i did not have a problem with it.
I tried the old monitor and as soon as got into logon screen i couldnt see it lines of different colours going across the screen and everything so i didnt even attempt to try n fix that issue!! lol
but if they have given me a dodgy screen im pissed off and theyll f**king give my money back.. ive heard about ebuyer putting things back people have returned.. they can swap it with a 72 quid one.
are you sure theres nothing i can do to try n sort this issue out??
i have got SiS utilities thats got loads of different refresh rates..what do i do??
I was just wondering if theres a way to fix the issue..the shimmering was ok for a few days after adjusting the refresh rate now its gone back to how it was and in properties its still set to 85hz. i press this button on the screen that seems to refresh it makes the picture shake then brings it back to nromal but still this only lasts for about half hour then it goes all shaky again shimmery.. -
if there's ever a hardware problem there's no software in the world that can fix it. you could keep tryin to temp fix it but do u really wanna do that until the point it's too late to return it? just some food for thought

just had another issue where plugging a new IDE drive in well not new it got stuff on it..well so much stuff its only got 15 mb left..but clicked on my computer E: disappeared and appeared again, is that normal yeah??
all the songs work on it ok.. no sign of a hard drive failure isit??
this hdd has no bad fragments but i swear songs r worse quality on it, it might just be a low audio bitrate whatever its called..isit possible 4 a drive to play songs different quality??
also can playing a song cause fragments??
also what damage to the hard drive unplugging and p;ugging it in when the mains cable is still in the back??
