Intel 3 Ghz
1 gig of ram
Windows XP Pro SP2
udma being used in bios and on device manager
Using NERO 6.3.1.25
Micro Advantage (officem@x special)
2nd drive I've tried
firmware A070 (just updated)
When I am burning any type of disc above 4X at about 13 - 16 % the buffer in the drive (as shown by nero) starts fluctuating between the high 90's (normal) and close to zero. I do not do anything on my PC while this is happening. It takes a very long time to burn a disc while this is happening.
I've even used it as a USB burner and I had the same problem
I've also used several diffrent types of media as well.
It is probably something easy but it has been bothering me for months.
Please help me if you know the answer

I gave up on Nero because the burner buffer completely disappeared one day. I use DVD Decrypter now and it seems to work much better, the buffers never completely drain, they did with Nero frequently.

So you think that it is Nero? I even tried Adaptec (sorry, Roxio) and I have the same problem. Any other ideas?

Try Decrypter, ISO read ISO write. It also reads alot smoother and faster. The price is right, free.

IDE issues
HDD is slow
DVD-ROM source is slow
.... many possibilities, NONE of them point to "bad drive"Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Totally agree with the "Smurf". Hardware related. Not a result of Nero.

Nero 6 on Pioneer 109 causes underruns ... but if other software does it too (like OP), hardware issue more likely.

====> I will try that tonight
IDE issues

====> IDE is udma, same issue w/ usb HD's are 7200 rpm w/ the better ribbon cable, I have been ripping them with dvd decryptor and burning the files in nero
Any ideas on what I should check as far as hardware goes? It seems logical to me that it is nero or hardware related.
Any other ideas????
