  1. It would be great to have a similar option like "bin to mpeg extraction" for avi files....
I know that you can abort the svcd2dvd encoding process when the mpegs are created, right before the dvd authoring begins........it's just that you have to keep an eye on the whole process before you can get the mpeg file.
    Reason for this request:
the possability to edit the mpeg (remove commercials or bad capture frames etcetera..)and load it afterwards to start the dvdauthoring again with svcd2dvd......

    2nd request:
Option for manually selecting Half-D1 in preferences...
It would be great to fit more than 1 captured vhs tape on a dvd...
Video quality of older vhs tapes is less than Half-D1 quality......encoding them as "fit on dvd' is a waste of space, because you can't improve the quality of those tapes....

    3th request:
    Convert NTSC to PAL option......

Do you have a program in mind to do the editing? Most that i know of will turn the DVD compliant mpeg (with nav packs) to a non compliant mpeg and so S2D will need to add them again... Surely you would be better editing the avi....

    Thoughts?

I do the editing with Womble's MPEG2VCR because you can go to the exact frame from where you want to edit and cut, then you can save the edited MPEG without re-encoding....
Video that's captured as dvd+vr with a standalone dvd-recorder or video that's captured with an Ati All-In-Wonder videocard can be edited in MPEG2VCR too,and the output can imported directly in SVCD2DVD to create compliand DVD-video.....
I always create MPEG myself, never tried programs to edit avi footage ......any recommendations?

I use AVCutty but there are plenty out there.

I thought you had avi files which you want to convert to mpeg with svcd2dvd. then edit then reuse in svcd2dvd? Yet it sounds like you already have the mpegs from the DVDrecorder or the videocard.

That's also true.....for editing videocamera output....
I like SVCD2DVD's interface and quality output, and I'm eager to be able to use it for as much tasks as possible without the need for X amount of apps for different tasks....
If you're willing to implant some of my requests,I can do most of my video editing with SVCD2DVD and MPEG2VCR......
I checked AVcutty, and it seems that it can't handle vbr, which means that I 1st have to use VirtualDub to convert and process audio to pcm before I can proceed with AVCutty.....
Your little gem creates AVI to MPEG by default before it proceeds with dvd authoring.....
Being able to interrupt that process for editing and then proceed with authoring shortens the encoding time a lot ,since you don't have to use any extra 3th party apps anymore to make a AVCutty-compatible AVI with supported audiostream ....

Ok I will implement the batch AVI to MPG (with NAV PACKS) in the next release.
