420 minutes is easily 352x240 resolution. And to look good, just give it good bitrate, VBR MPEG2
HOWEVER ... I question a "good" rating on a disc with 7 hours of content.
While not totally impossible, the odds of having the source is ..well.... not very large AT ALL.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

there's no reason at all to downgrade the quality that much to fit all that on one dvd since blanks are only about .30 these days. if you're gonna do something make sure u do it right the first time. just my 2 abe lincolns

I have tried doing that with episodes from vcd. Just load those mpeg1 (covert from dat format with vcdeasy) in Tmpgenc DVD Author.

Agreed. Even in Australia, blanks are now cheap enough that seven hours on the one disc is just plain foolhardy and wasteful. Even more so than putting one hour each on seven discs.
Three or four discs at full D1 resolution (unless your source is already half-D1) with variable bitrate encoding should be fine. In fact, four discs at $1.50 a piece, as is the mean price in Australia, would be a bargain compared to some of the other options."It's getting to the point now when I'm with you, I no longer want to have something stuck in my eye..." -
If you want save the cost of DVD-+/blanks and still retain a decent quality I would rather suggest to buy a DivX-compatible DVD-Player and encode the movies into DivX-format where you can retain much more quality if you put 10x 42 minutes on a DVD.

here's a sample forgot to do so in the bigginning.
as you can see the quality is pretty good and i'd love to do this in the future. I have plenty of dvdr so that's not the issue. I find it more convenient to have the least amt of disk even though it mean to scarifice the quality a lil bit.

Use KDVD half D1 template. Get about 12+ hours per dvdr.

Sure, a panasonic dvd recorder can do 12 hours on a dvd....Haven't seen how it looks tho.

@trunksu .... that image is full of deinterlace artifacts.
Not only would I not consider that good quality, unless
it was a super super rare video, I'd not even watch it.
I cannot stand deinterlace jaggies.

If <TRUNKSU> would be kind enough to give us the ORIGINAL resolution of the files in question we might get somewhere.....and possibly its format and datarate?
..... you should get 7hours of playing time of standard VCD's (mpeg1 1150bitrate plus 224mpa) on a single DVD.....which by coincidence is 420minutes (note! thats 7 HOURS and not 7 VCD's @ 74 or 80mins each) plus dropping the audio rate is possible with DVD.
And I (for once) agree with Smurfy that 'still' looks crap (imo)....but that MAY be because its WAY bigger than 352 X 288/240 res of VCD. -
