  1. HI! First time poster and I think I am in the right forum. I bought the 1st season of Taxi on DVD which is 3 discs. What I want to do (and after searching here and trying different things I can't get it to work), I want to take 2 episodes off disc 1 (not in order), one episode off disc 2 and 1 episode off disc 3 and make a single DVD with these for episodes...kind of a "best of". The episodes are not split up in Video files like other season TV discs I have bought, but rather in 1 big main file. My question is...what is the way to do this or can it be done? I also don't want or need menus. Is there a freeware that will allow you to do this or do I have to buy a program that will? I tried just moving the Video_TS files (after using a start-stop point with DVD shrink) and that was a joke...didn't work at all. Plus, if I try to move into 1 temp folder...the files are named the same and will overwrite the previous one...as you can see..I'm lost...Any help or tips appreciated.. Thanks, Jay

Sorry dude....DVDShrink is my preferred method especially since you don't need a menu.
You should not need the start-stop point method with what you are trying to accomplish by the way.
BUT....factory pressed DVD's can be authored strange so....IF you use the start-stop point method....make sure you take the entire chapter....don't get into frame by frame....that sometimes causes audio problems.

  3. I don't really need to use the start-stop method...I was just guessing when I tried this...Is there a way to do this with DVD Shrink? I'm very new to it so I don't know it that well....Thanks, Jay

    Easy to do!

Just get VideoRedo, convert the VOBs you want to mpegs, combine, and then finish up with DVD-lab. If the completed product is too big for a single DVD, then just run it through Shrink.

    $150 total?
    No thanks....
Jay.....look at all of the DVDShrink guides....you'll get the hang of it. You'll need to use re-author and drag the wanted episodes into the left window of DVDShrink.
You can also have one DVD of the set in one drive.....another DVD in another drive....and one DVD ripped to your hard drive....and put them all together with DVDShrink.
Cool little tool. The only problem is that you will have multiple "titles"(not chapters) on the finished product.

Just download the trials of VideoReDo and DVD-lab --- it won't cost you a red cent , and they are not crippled so you can complete your project. Painless and Easy

  7. So basically I can make a single DVD from 2-3 other DVDs with only certain episodes I want with
DVDShrink...BUT, can I do it if the episodes are in one big main file and not split up with DVDShrink or do I need to use VideoReDo and DVD-lab? Sounds like if I read up on DVDShrink it will work..correct? (And I only have 1 DVD drive)

1 drive = putting the other two to your HD...then opening them in DVDShrink 's built in browser.
Check out the guide I posted above....you'll see.

    Jaycook,

How did you manage to have one big file?

This does not make any sense to me

    However,
    1) Use shrink on each of your episode disc.
    2) Select your episodes and rip each disc in different folders.
    3) reauthor and burn with shrink.

Cannot be easy as this 8)

    I'm with Rick

I can think of quite a few ways you could do it quite easily, which involves the usage of TDA. Rip with either smartripper or DVDDecrypter, then import into TDA and select the appropriate title for that episode. Repeat until you have all eps selected. Create a custom menu if you wish or configure it to not have a menu. Output. Burn.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  12. RickTheRed: I know it sounds weird having one big file..BUT the Taxi DVD Discs have ALL the Episodes on each disc in one big main file....so you have to pull the episodes out of the one main file...they are not seperated like most Episode DVDs into Episodes as files...BUT I did get it to work by the way hech54 said in his DVD-guide posted above THX! It worked! You just have to pick the chapters you want and reauthor that way...each episode was about 4 chapters...kind of a weird way to do it but you can get around it.

  13. One last thing... you can do all of this with DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and ImageBurn...all freeware...Thx again for all the input..esp hech54!

    Hi there

when using shrink remember to click on view and untick combine shared titles, this should mean you can get to each episode individually. Before I noticed this I couldn't back up BBC shows like Pole to Pole or Box of delights since all 3 hours showed as one block marked as titles1,2,3,4 etc. Untick that option and they appear as title1, title 2, title 3 etc meaning you can split up the disc..hoorah!
