Animated Frog's Genitals -- Okay for TV?

LONDON (Reuters) - Despite complaints from 60 people, Britain's advertising regulators said Wednesday there is nothing inappropriate about the genitals of an animated frog whose high-pitched squeals are sold as a mobile phone ringtone.

Television adverts of the motorcycle-riding Crazy Frog, who is drawn with a broad smile and a tiny penis, run frequently on British television, amusing, baffling and annoying viewers.

"While unusual for an animated model of this type to be shown with genitalia, no sexual or inappropriate references were made about its anatomy," the UK's Advertising Standards Authority said.

Twenty-two people complained they were worried children might see the advertising, which also promotes screen savers and mobile videos. Five parents said they were embarrassed by questions their children had asked.

Other viewers simply found the commercial annoying and thought it was shown too often.

"We appreciate that the frequent broadcast of the same, or similar commercials can be annoying to some viewers," the ASA said. "However, it is for the advertiser and broadcaster to decide how often a particular advertisement is shown."

Because the ads contain a text number to place an order, they are barred from being shown during children's programs, and the ASA said there were no reports of children being concerned by the advert.

The ads were created by Germany's Lorena Medienagentur GmbH for Jamba! AG, trading as Jamster.

Well, it certainly annoys me. Not just because of the noise - it's the fact that they have whipped that animation and called it "the crazy frog". It isn't. That's the Annoying Thing, used to demonstrate the animation capabilities of something or other.

I think adverts like that should be banned. Quality adverts should be allowed, but that type....

Oh good greif! I have a link to the orginal artist that put that thing together. I think that he did a great job of it for what it is. I hope that he made good money for his work. I think that he deserves it. It is kind of sad that he could only sell it to some crappy wireless company, but maybe it will work out for him better in the long run if he gets to do more work for them.

I have played the orginal at least fifty times for my kids(3&6 years old) and they think that it is funnier than hell. They think that the smoke comming out of his ass is the funniest part and could not care less if it has a penis or not. It is not like the thing was commiting a sexual act or pissing on a grave.

Wake up people! Times are changing! This is nothing compared to some things out there. I would rather my children see and learn about the birds and bees and not be so uptight about it than learn about drugs or violence. What next? Are dogs supposed to wear trousers so that children can't see their genitalia?

Maybe my wife and I are too progressive or something. Both of my kids know what a penis is (good thing I guess, considering that they are boys). They know that it is called a penis, but we call it a wee-nus. They know that it is for peeing and when they get older and grow up that it is for making babies. (I don't think they know all of the details just yet, but hell they are still pretty young) They know that it is a private part and not to let anyone mess with it.

If something that trivial tramatized my kids, I would go ahead and drown them to save the world the burden. If it bothers you that much and don't think that your kids should see it, tell your kids your opinion about it. And explain your logic to them, pass your morales down to them. But don't try to force your uptight values onto me or mine. I would like to think that I have bigger fish to fry.

He's made a banal, mediocre advertisement for a banal, mediocre and utterly pointless product the likes of which the world and indeed mankind could well do without. I think he deserves the nastiest ass cancer his god can provide him with.

Male frogs have a gland on their body that secretes the semen. They grab onto the back of a female and squeeze the abdomen, almost like squeezing the eggs out, as the eggs come out they are pushed into the secretion. After that, they are pretty much left alone to fend for themselves.

I hate the yellow-chinned peeper tree frogs. Those things are friggin loud & annoying.
