According to advertising professionals, the three most popular elements in winning television spots are sex, humor, and animals. Well, PETA's newest pro-vegetarian ad has all three … the "animals" being those you save when you eat a vegetarian diet. Alas, despite the history of risqué Bowl ads, CBS won't touch PETA's funny impotence spot with a 10-foot pole.

People interested to learn about PETA should watch the excellent Penn and Teller BULLSHIT episode about them. Pretty scary stuff.

PETA was complaining this week about how chickens were abused before being sent to KFC(et al)...give me a break...they're going to be slaughtered anyway.

Actually, PETA made ads comparing the plight of chickens to the suffering of victims of the holocaust in concentration camps. There is nothing funny about a sick organization like this one. Some very deranged people really.

What was it that the Pharoah Ramses the First said to his guards, stopping them from subduing Moses as he preached --- "Let him rave on so that men shall know him mad." I say what the heck ... let PETA's ad air. The majority of meat eaters in the audience will be offended ... as will the religious right-wingers ... and the ad will probably do more to hurt their public image than help it.

I just wish to heck our media wasn't so prudish ... so we could have ads like this one in Britain:

Actually, I've seen the British ad and it seems rather innocent. PETA's ad is far more provocative. Anyhoo, if you want to see the short ad, click here (256k RealVideo).
