    I got a Divx file with 5 channels ac3 audio. But i want to change the ac3 to regular mp3. So my question is: How can I convert the ac3 audio to mp3 without touching the video codec?? Is there a way without muxing and demuxing the audio??

    open the divx ac3 in goldwave(ac3filter required) and convert to mp3. add the mp3 to the video with virtualdubmod under stream->stream list. select video->direct stream copy. save as a new avi.

    mencoder.exe -oac mp3lame -ovc copy input.avi -o putput.avi

    No need to demux, re-encode, remux. VirtualDubMod, an AC3 ACM decoder and lame ACM should also be able to do it.
