anyone happen to know when/if philips will rls the next firmware upgrade for the 642? what was the time frame between past firmware updates? (between 0531 and 1109 for instance) i suppose this would give everyone an idea as to when their may be a possible future update. if no one knows, no big deal... was just curious. thx.

MKV, and specially OGM ?
Right now, I have to reconvert some ogm anime into SVCD to be able to watch them. It's ok but I would really prefer a direct on the fly conversion, that's why I bought the DVP642 -
Given that DVP642 is DivX certified (and DivX keeps coming out with new versions) IMO we will see new firmware updates. It costs Philips little extra if they have other ESS Vibrato II players on the market. Even if not, they could license firmware code from other companies that do.
Re: OGM and MKV, personally I doubt it since Philips has thrown their piece of the pie in with DivX Networks. Obviously they want a cut of any future DivX VOD profits (if the damn thing is ever profitable, which I have my doubts). -
