I want to make a VCD. The MPEG I have is 850 MB and thus won’t fit on a single 74min CD. Please note that this mpeg is not VCD compatible. Thus I have to encode it to VCD format using TMPGEnc.

Now after I encode it to TMPGEnc, I break it into two smaller mpegs, so that I can fit it on 2 CDs. This I do using IfilmEdit. But after this when I try to burn the CD, programs like EasyCdCreator or Nero don’t recognise the mpeg and say “cannot support that format”. This means I have to encode both the mpegs again which take ages (almost 10-12 hours)…Can somebody please help how to improve on this.

  2. You should do your cutting with TMPGEnc. Under the mpeg tools. Should work fine

Alas, I did not know that we can do mpeg editing with TMPGEnc.. Anyway, when do I do it, after or before I encode the "VCD incompatible" mpeg.

Also will this thing hold if I my original file is a divx type of .avi and not some .mpg

  4. I am having the same problem too!!!... I am encoding my .avi files to .mpeg files using TMPGEnc.... then I cut them accordingly also using TMPGEnc so I can put them across 2 cds. & evertime I go to burn the VCD using Adaptec or Nero I keep getting the same stupid message.... The file "C:\movies\Matrix.mpg" will not work in a VCD player. To make this file Video CD compliant you will need to use an MPEG encoder that supports Video CD encoding.... And when I expand the Details tab it says that the following are incorrect: Frame Size 352x208 and system clock reference 1084... I also made a bunch of other mpegs with different frame sizes that didnt work. I think the frame size is ok, cuz I saw somewhere that it has to be a multiple of 8 or 16... which it is both of. The only thing that I could have possibly done wrong is not know the correct Template (PAL, NTSC, NTSCFilm). I tried to find what it was using Windows Media Encoder, but either there is a typo or I am doing something wrong. The MPEGs work fine using windows media player, so they do work... but I just cant get them to burn as a VCD.... if anyone has a solution please help... I am at the end of my rope

I would highly recommend setting up Project files in TMPG and using your SOURCE RANGE filter PRIOR to encoding. If you need an example of this see Sefy's top guide under the DVD rip section.

  7. Guys, when you encode, make sure to load a Template AFTER you opened your file in TMPGEnc, if you do it before, the settings will change, and the encode you do is no good!

And for god's sake, dont use EZ CD Creator! why ?? why!! oh the horror, the horror!

  8. How do I check an .Avi file b4 encoding to see what template it needs? I've tried using Windows Media Encoder to see what the FPS is, but I cant figure out how to show the properties. Also why does everyone reccomend against using EZ CD creator to burn VCDs... are ppl having problems? If so I could use Nero instead, but I just feel more comfortable using EZ. Thanks in advance!

  9. Hey I figured out how to find the FPS.... just right click on the .Avi click properties and then go to the details tab. I wouldnt have thought it would have been that easy. I will try one now and see what happens.

  10. SleazyCD Creator isn't bad, it's just not good. In some respects (menus), it is superior than Nero. It does have some frustrating bugs, but they are not insurmountable. Personally, I use both Sleazy and Nero because they each have strengths.

juxtapoz15: yepp rightclick is the thing
as to why u keep getting that message in nero. your mpg is not standard.
standard is 352x288 @25fps (PAL) or 352x240 @29,97 fps (NTSC)

Puneet: cutting: TMPGEnd or BBmpeg, id use BB.

i would recomend using VCDImager instead of nero an absolutly instead of EZ CD Creator!!
