  1. Hi,

I'm in dire need for help.

I've got the Philips DVP642 DVD player.
    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=dvp642&Submit=Search&Search=Search&cou...y=Name&hits=25

I'm very new at this and have tried researching as much as I could on this website and from other sources. This was my result:

    Stoik Settings:
    DIVX 5.1.1 Codec
Audio Compressor - MPEG Layer 3 (with the dropdown list, none matched with the details from the above link to the DVD player specs, so i did trial & error)
Result - Video, not able to fast forward (skip through a track), no sound.

    I'm trying TMPGEnc right now.
The default setting is non-interlace and aspect ratio of 1:1 (VGA). I don't understand what this means.. should I stay with default?

What kind of source file are you converting ? Must be a WMV or ASF if you've tried STOIK and TMPGenc.

For starters, just choose one of the NTSC templates in TMPGenc and do a test run. Any of those can be played on the DVP 642.

    thanks very much soopafresh.

my test runs are now successful.

I forgot to ask this the last time, but is there an easy way to convert more than 1 file at a time with TMPGEnc? I'd like to convert quite a few files over night, rather than waiting for them 1 by 1.

    WOOT! thanks, you ROCK!

Also, whenever I use batch encoding, it automatically sets back to MPEG-1 from MPEG-2. How can I correct this?
