  1. Can DVD Decrypter be used to burn files larger than the stated 4.3gb

    Example
The latest versions of DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are being used
The burner is capable of burning DL disks and the proper media is used
The file size, even with unwanted material removed, is almost 5.6gb
Compressing the file to a DVD5 disk would result in compromised video quality

If a disk is a DVD9 and the file is less than 8.5gb. Can the entire file be ripped and
Burned using only DVD Decrypter without the use of DVD shrink or similar software?
If Decrypter can’t why does it have a DL setting. I guess I could try it, but I didn’t want to have a bunch of $6.00 coasters. Some movies are fairly long and any compression to a DVD5 would result in poor video.
I’ve burned CD with success. I’m new to burning DVD of any capacity
A previous thread, now locked because it got off the subject, attempts to deal with this
I realize that DL burning can have its problems. I’d like to give it a try.

Thank for the reply. I read your guide. Your entire responce and advice was most informitive. I also learnd quite a bit more about the use of the vast amount of information on this site. Now if I could only type and spell. I have found in the past that having a burner with high burning spec is not always the answer. while it takes longer a slower burning speed produces a better disk, with considerable less failure. I am going to install, in my pc, a new DVD Burner. Was thinking of a NEC 3500 Any suggestions.
    Thanks again.

  4. I don't have a DL writer but I have read good reviews on the NEC 3500,BenQ 1620 and Pioneer 108.

as for slower burning, thats an urban myth.disc speed it soon to be up to 12,and 16speed,so its more quality media you should be thinking of,more than speed.

  6. Yes, I just did my first one today on my BenQ 1620, Verbatim bitset to DVD-ROM. The movie's playing right now on my Apex, gunna try the Sylvania next. I'll get around to some scans tonight.

To answer the question, yes. ISO Read -> ISO Write with DVDDecrypter, using the .MDS file as source. I used the defaults, and didn't mess with the film at all, not even the FBI warning.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  7. Here's a scan, Verbatim DVD+R DL (MKM 001) bitset as DVD-ROM. No problems playing it.
