  1. Boy, I hope this is in the right section, if not, lemme know.

Anyways, here's my problem. I've converted a avi file into a SVCD mpeg that's about 4.1 gig in size. I wanted to burn it onto a DVDR and watch it on my standalone DVD player like a normal SVCD, with the difference being that it's on a DVD instead of a CD.

I'm not too sure how to burn it even. I tried with Nero, it wouldn't let me, something about the file being too big and that I should load it with a UDF(which I don't even know what it means). I tried making it into an ISO with WINISO, but it wouldn't do anything. Anyone kow if there's a program that will burn it?? It's already 4.1 gig, so I don't want it to get any bigger or it won't fit onto a DVDR.

  2. Grab the DVDLab demo.
Open your mpeg, ignore the error about aspect ratio. Let it transcode the audio.
    Compile and burn.
You can add menus and chapters too if you like.
    See my guides.

  4. I'm at the part where you drag and drop the files onto Movie 1, I managed to drag and drop the video file ok, but the audio file doesn't wanna drop. In your tutorial, when you drag and drop the audio, there's a green bar with the audio listed, but all I have is the video and no audio bar.

  6. If your audio won't go into dvdlab, it's not standard, or it's not transcodable (probably mp3 vbr)
Open the audio file (after dvdlab has demuxed) in ffmpeggui. Transcode it to 48khz AC3.
Import the AC3 audio into dvdlab, and it should go.

VSO Divx to DVD is going to re-encode the whole video to dvd standard. A possible severe loss of quality, not to mention a completely different filesize.

  7. OK, I trieed using the ffmpegggui program, converted it into 48K AC3 and it still won't allow me to drag and drop it. If it doesn't show up in the Movie1 thing, does that mean it's not there? Or could it be there, but jsut not show up?? I'm using DVD Lab 1.32, would it make a difference if I got DVD Lab pro instead?

I noticed that my audio, no matter whether I use ffmpeg or just dvd lab, ithe duration is listed as a little longer than the actual video, like almost 20 seconds longer, could that maybe be having an effect on it?

  8. I would maybe re-download and reinstall DVDLab.
If it's not taking the audio track, something is wrong.
AC3 should drop right in, and show as the green line.

  9. OK, I'll try that. Also, when I used ffmpeggui to do that conversion thing, it wouldn't convert the 48Kmpa audio file, so I just did a conversion with my SVCD mpeg file. When using the ffmepggui, should I be converting the audio from the transcoded audio file or from the mpeg?

  11. That's not a problem smurf, it's audio.
DVDLab doesn't care if the video is dvd spec or not, but audio must be 48khz, although it can be LPCM, AC3 or MP2.

bimmu, you can use the mpeg or transcoded mp2 (or even ripped LPCM .wav from the avi) as input, as long as the output is AC3 48khz.

Trying to get a handle on the differences between Lab and Pro, and you may need the AC3 filter.
Look for it in the Tools section (it's free), download and install it.

  12. I got it working. Turns out, it was fine the whole time. I looked more closely and I saw that when I dragged the video, the size was 3.9 gig, then when I dragged the audio, it jumped to 4.2 gig so I tried burning it and it worked. I think the problem was that my screen may be too small for the entire "Movie 1" thing to show up, so the bottom where the audio is was cut off, but it was still there, I just expected to see it like in the tutorial.

Anywhoo, thanks for all the help, I appreciate it.
