  1. I have dvc2 and I like the quality but no matter what I do I cannot seem to get 2hr or more video to be in sync. Is there any req? for a good capture card that rocks on sync and quality. I don't mind spending more money. I want a real time mpg2 for dvd authoring.

    Thanks

    jazlee,

    I'l try and be brief.

I have the Wintv PVR (usb version) and I have never had ANY audio sync issues
so far. But the pci version may be better if you also want to dabble with some
    AVI captures as well.

But, BEFORE you go ahead and try another capture card (as you are happy with
your dvc ii) then why don't you run an experiment on your own. Switch your
audio card with anther and see if that help (did for me)

I switch my SB Live 5.1 card out and replaced with my Santa Cruz, and my
audio sync issues went away - so far!

The SB line of cards steal some of your PCI bandwidth and resources from
your MB, and NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, you just can't seem to get rid of your
audio issues. If money is a problem, then, just continue w/ the experiment,
but just try a cheaper audio card, $19 at compUSA or $39 for their Herculies
one. Both cards are good, and remember, you're just experementing on
    the audio sync issues.

So, based on your test, if you no longer have audio issues with your captures,
then you know what's the cause, and you know what you next move is. . .
. . .still don't give and continue finding the solution, or find another audio
card that YOU can live with.

Maybe someone will read my post here, and finally give you THEIR solution.
else, I don't know what else to say - I'm basing all this on MY experience.
. . .may not work for you.

    Good luck jazlee
