I ripped Forgotten and Resident Evil with latest DVD Decrypter . I then reauthored "Main Movie" only rips with the latest version of DVD Shrink then burned them with NERO. When I put these 2 movies in to play .....they don't start in my Denon DVD-9200 player. All my other backed up movies run fine. However, if I press "pause" then "start" control on the DVD player they work fine.
There is some new copy protection out now by Sony and these 2 movies have it. Is there a fix for this and is anyone else having the same problem?

PLEASE post dvd to dvdr in the dvd to dvdr forum. moving you.

I didn't think DVD Shrink would transcode from a ifo(movie only)rip. It requires all files to work.

Hello,
Search is a wonderful thing
I give you a hint: use the word forgotten or resident evil.
You will not even have time to have a -
Download either the newest anydvd or dvdregion free.
Install either one and let it run in the background.
Then run dvdshrink and you will be all set. -
Hello,
This is so weird !! I had the same problem today while backing Anchorman-The Legend of Ron Burgundy. This is what I did: I ripped the main movie files with DVD Decrypter . Then used DVD FAB to create the necessary VOB files. I then reauthored with DVD Shrink and then burned them with CopytoDVD. When I put the movie in to play it does not start in my Philips DVP 642player. All my other backed up movies run fine. (As suggested for some other DVD player, the "pause" then "start" control on the DVD player does not work).
But when I play it on my PC, it works without any issues at all. I have used this method to back up more than 100 movies (have not installed any new softwares recently at all). Any ideas as to what is happening and is there a workaround for playing this on my DVD player as well??
Any inputs are welcome..
Thanks. -
Well Rick I did previously do a search before I posted with no results concerning this "exact" issue. Perhaps given your expertise in searching.......you could find this exact issue for me so I can go have a beer as you suggested.
To answer the other gentleman....I ripped the entire movie and then reauthored only the main movie with shrink. I've been doing this procedure all along and it always worked previously with 25 some movies. it just seems odd it happened on the movies with the same encryption.
I don't know the particulars about movie encoding but it would seem the transcoding was messed up or my rip was bad although the program logs said everything went fine.
Perhaps what I really want to know is where did I go wrong and is it not possible to rip and burn movies with the new encryption with the 3 programs I used in the future. -
Why does it play without any issue on the PC, but not on the DVD player-Just to add to my earlier post. And also, as donfm mentioned, is the procedure for backing up certain movies different now?

Thinking it may have been a bad media issue with my Ritek GO4's I burnt Forgottten on a DVD+RW.......Exact same problem. ....exact same solution.

why use ANYDVD when you can use free software like VOB BLANKER.....i used it for RESIDENT EVIL APOCALYSE with no problems....i would suggest to all of you to use VOB BLANKER to rip the SONY DVDS....then use can use DVD SHRINK or DVD REBUILDER to compress the vob files.....then burn with your fav burning program....i used NERO burn and have no problems with the disc playing in any dvd player......it played back flawlessly.....
search is your friend try using it as already suggested.....there are many threads regarding this so called new copy protection that sony is using....from what i have read it is not even a copy protection scheme but just bogus vob files to confuse software like DVD SHRINK & DECRYPTER..... -
