Good cheap dvd-r's ?

Lets clear things up, what are some good dvd-r's that I should be looking for . First I was told pro disc were good but then I am hearing they suck, then I hear ritecks are good but I hear people bashing them. Anyone want to shed some light on this ? Also is there really a big difference between dvd-r and dvd+r ?

From what I learned the past week.. taiyo yuden or maxells and fuji film "made in japan". There are a few sales right now at best buy and office depot.
