Not really sure which forum this should be in, but this seems like the right one.
I got a Liteon LVW 5101 a couple weeks ago. After recording to a +RW, trying to open the disk with TMPGenc gives errors.
With the MPEG Editor and with TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress the error is "Can not find in the specified folder a file necessary to add a DVD". With DVD Author the error is "VIDEO_TS.IFO can not be opened."
I can use DVD-Lab to demux the files to the HD and it doesn't have any problem.
I can also rip the disk with Decrypter and TMPGEnc programs will then open the ripped files. The Decrypter log says:
-Possible Structure Protection Found!
-1 area has been marked as 'suspect'
-Dummy sectors will be inserted where necessary
I can live with having to use Decrypter or lab to get the files opened, but I'm wondering why there would be Structure Protection added and exactly what it is.
Does this happen with Liteon models other than the 5101? Is it an intentional thing or just bad programing by Liteon? Or is my 5101 defective and should I return it and exchange it?
