  1. I have VCD which has a .dat file that has been sonehow corrupted right at the end.

When copying the file... it always fails at the very last minute.
I assume this mean that most of the file is OK... and just the end bit is somehow faulty?

How can i resuce this file?
Or at least rescue as much as possible?

    Thanks.

Maybe try extracting as much of it as you can with VCDGear or ISOBuster ?

IMO you should be using one of these to extract the MPEG out of the DAT anyway
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. thanks for the reply.
i'll look at both of those.
someone told me that the .dat files are mpeg 1 files.
and renaming them to mpg simply 'makes' them be mpg files?

    is the above correct?
if so... what do u mean extract the mpeg?

    thanks.

No. DAT is a MPEG with a different header, so you should extract the MPEG out of DAT files for best results. Renaming any file doesn't change it to be something else
    If in doubt, Google it.
