Ulead Video editor no sound

Could anyone tell me why I get no sound when I play the mpeg I converted from avi with the above prog.

Is it a codec I dont have to play the sound or something that is going wrong with the encode.

Need more input, need more input.... I know I just tried converting a DivX encoded .avi to an mpg and didn't have any sound as well.

Yes thats what I have discovered the AVI was Divx.

I tried it with a small ordinary avi and had sound.

I am conducting further experiments.

Wonder if there is anyway of returning the DIVX avi to ordinary AVI

Please, if you figure it out, can you email me and post a solution. I've been trying to get this to work. I have several DivX movies I want to convert to mpeg so I can output them through me Dazzle DVC II, but they need to be mpeg first (with sound) .

Try doing this, I now have a working VCD with sound

Most DivX movies come with MP3 or WMA audio compression. Unfortunately, most of the AVI to MPEG-1 conversion tools do not support compressed audio, so the only way to convert DivX to MPEG-1 with audio is to decompress the audio first.

You can do this using VirtualDub - there are two methods :

Decompress audio within the AVI file

1. Load your DivX/AVI file into VirtualDUB.
2. From the "Video" menu, select "Direct Stream Copy".
3. From the "Audio" menu, select "Full Processing Mode".
4. From the "Audio" menu, select "Compression" and choose "No Compression (PCM)".
5. Save the AVI file

Then use your Ulead to convert as you did before, then burn it to cd.

I have tested it on computer DVD but not stand alone.
