You can probably answer this question yourself by reading the hundreds of posts relating to Intel vs. AMD in the computer forum. All of them go no where quick and eventually degrade into nothing but this guy bashing this guy and this guy's benchmarks are fixed and blah blah blah...

Smearbrick has given you the answer.
Personally, I prefer AMD myself, but I do not want to start a war. -
I'm going to go along with the "who cares" option.
Whaaa
this wasn't a poll

I know several people on this forum who are happy with their Intel rigs, and several who are happy with their AMD ones. They are better at different things. No one brand is better than the other.
I use AMD myself. If Intel offer me something I want, I'll take it. Makes no difference to me - a processor still processes!
Plenty of threads lying around - go and have a read.
Cobra -
I agree with Cobra. I use Intel, because I'm more familiar with their setup. I've seen a few AMD , but I don't build PCs with them because they didn't do what I wanted them to do in the past. As time goes by, I just stuck with Intel, again, because I was more familiar and acquainted with them. I find I can keep them more stable than an AMD, but I'm sure others know how to make their AMDs more stable than a regular Intel. It's like battling California & Florida oranges. It's an orange, and I'll buy the cheapest, best looking & tasting ones I find. Sometimes I'll go one way, other times I go the other. Just depends on what suits my needs the best.

That mysterious smile you see on AMD user's faces, is because we're doing the same stuff, in the same amount of time, for one quarter the cost.
Cheers, Jim

Or more appropriately, I don't care enough to stop and think about it. Both boxes serve different purposes, and both do what they're set up to do. -

I know this isn't a debate thread but why the fuss you see everywhere when someone dare compare them, if your PC works who cares?
I'm just glad it isn't a monopoly by Intel. Imagine the prices they would charge if AMD didn't exist -
I honsetly think there should be another large processor distributor out on the market. Right now they don't seem to make it out large enough because they have to create their own motherboards too, and that's costly in the beginning. Wait for some patents to expire and we'll see a few more make it on the market, but not many.

they both process pr0n about in the same quality, so in this case my friend....everybody is a winner

Hehe, adding gas to the fire...
What... no PowerPC/Mac fans here? Macintosh computers are hugely popular in the prof. video/graphics industry.
Although, my personal preferance is AMD (it's what I am most familiar with). But heck, I'll buy any of the three, if the price is right -
Its an ongoing argument but mostly by fanboys. After all, some people even use Macs...

Macs, are they those PC's that look pretty and cost stupid prices? -

I've got a better question: why do people keep dragging this silly argument out? There is no clear "winner" in the processor war... unless we had full 64-bit software support right now and a dual FX core motherboard
FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
The only reason a person should buy one cpu, versus another, is personal preference.
That argument falls flat on it's face, if one includes the price of the cpu as part of one's preferences.
If Intel could produce a decent product at the same speed for the same money, this whole thread would be pointless.
I would venture 99% of users don't know what HyperThreading is, nor do they know what ProcessorRating means, and they see a number on a box, and buy the fastest for the cheapest.
Under those conditions, AMD wins.
For the others, that are willing to research just the littlest bit, Intel wins. For those that don't care, any old thing will do.
I have used and continue to use both, because I am not driven by price, nor advertising.
Who cares what's "better". There are positives and negatives to both, and it's unfortunate that there are no other good contenders in the cpu marketplace (anyone remember Cyrix, Zilog, et al?)Cheers, Jim

right has I thought there is no real answerer to my question, Intel and amd user's will always slag each over off and the Mac user's will put there two penith in too, I now that Intel, amd, Mac, and the over’s have there good and bad points .no one company is better than the over and each company is good at certain jobs.
The reason I ask this question is that all the reviews, forums, benchmarks that I have looked at are bios to one maker Intel or amd and the only real choice is down to the job the cpu is going to do and cost and the individual
Thank you for your input and I hope I have not upset any one by asking that question
PS this is still a great forum thank you
