  1. Hello all,

First post from me, and I'm having some trouble playing burned DVD-R (or RW) on my Toshiba SD210E. My old burner (a LG in an IBM Aptiva) using Nero Express 6 worked like a charm, no problem with -R or -RW, even cheapie media like Traxdata - so I don't think it's a media problem.
My new Dell has a Phillips DVD8631, and using the same software (DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and Nero Express 6), the discs won't play on the Tosh. I load it, the little orange DVD icon comes on, and the 'Loading' message start - and keeps going. The disc never starts. I can play these burned discs in the Dell, no problem.
Any ideas? I did see in a guide here a recommendation to change UDF 1.05 to UDF 1.02 in Nero to solve these sorts of compatibility problems, but I can't find where to do this in Nero Express - or is it even possible?
I removed some Sonic disc software that came with the Dell and installed InCD 4, thinking that might be the probelm. I also have the overburn and disc-at-once disabled.
I really appreciate any advice you may have. We are not totally sunk as the Dell has a 19'' flat screen so watching a film on it is OK, but we really prefer to see it on the main TV.

    Thanks!
    Mark

It could very well be a software conflict. InCD, and in fact ALL packet-writing software, is retrograde and should be deleted as quickly as possible. Also please snap any packet-writing software discs in half, and in order to send a CLEAR signal to the manufacturers, mail them back broken discs. Please.

As for your particular problem, it COULD be InCD. It COULD just be that your burner, as it currently is, dislikes your media. Make sure the burner has the latest firmware. Also, be aware that Dell-branded burners are almost always using bizarre Dell-only firmwares, so try to get the generic firmware for it. That will likely fix EVERYTHING up for you right there.
