  1. Okay, Ive done some testing over the last 24 hours with RC1. First I will go over my thoughts on s/vcd conversions.

S/VCD's - Everything here is spot on, no probs at all, one suggestion tho would be automated ripping of bin files, ie drag them to title as you would mpegs/avi's and the program will automatically rip them when you click process dvd.

AVI's - Finally the audio re-encode problem is fixed, it will now process to MP2 audio if you choose(useful for pro-logic compatable recievers), the real bonus tho is that if you have AVI's with AC3 audio you can keep the full 5.1 sound by checking the AC3 box (tested at DVD resolution, and just tested with SVCD resolution and works too!). My only complaint with the AVI encoding is that the quality is not as good as TMPGenc, CCE or Mainconcept. The bitrate with DVD res, seems to drop too low at times, causing blockiness and edges often look fuzzy on a large screen TV, on a small screen(21in or less) they look fine. The latter is probably caused by how the encoder upscales the video to fit DVD resolution if the AVI file is below DVD resolution. I found that if your avi is less than 720 pixels wide, it is best to encode at SVCD resolution. The quality at SVCD is comparable to a single pass Mainconcept encode and IMHO is more watchable than when encoded at dvd Resolution altohugh again it is not as good as a multi-pass CCE encode. A Multi-pass encoding option if possible would polish the AVI encoding and improve the AVI option all-round, or possibly integration with external encoders would also be an option. I personally am willing to leave my computer for twice as long to encode at better quality, particularly for a one click solution such as SVCD2DVD.

The Menu Maker is still excellent, by far the simplest and best I have used. Motion menus and chapter selection menus are the only improvements I could suggest here, but even they are not all that important.

Overall tho it is by far the best 1 click solution available, 5.1 Audio makes it stand head and shoulders above the rest, Far better than it's nearest one-click rival - WinAVI converter, and cheaper too!
Keep up the good work chrissyboy!

    Thanks for the detailed feedback.

2 pass encoding will be included in the next release. I am new to AVI encoding so things will improve over time!

    Thanks again.
